Happy Wednesday, everyone! It’s already been a pretty manic morning, which is a huge change from the chill Tuesday that I had, but I’m hanging in there and holding on for dear life. Taking a break from work probably isn’t my best idea, but it’s what I want to do, so let’s take a quick minute and see if “Friendly Fire” from Brave Days featuring Nick Diener of The Swellers can get my day back on track.
I’ll be honest, I was in love with this song before I even heard it purely because I am in love with The Swellers. That being said, Brave Days absolutely holds their own throughout this four and a half minute long song. This song starts off with a powerful and emotive vocal portion before you get to hear the pop-punk-perfection that is Brave Days. It’s a deep track with words that are as beautiful as the actual music. The tale told in this song is one as old as time. It’s about how those close to us can be the ones who cause us the most pain. The mood of this song matches that. There are moments of defeat and depression scattered throughout this song, but there is also a triumphant energy that gives this song a punchy feeling and one that is as infectious as it is addictive. You can definitely feel a little The Swellers influence throughout this song, but, as mentioned, this song is all Brave Days.
