I haven’t really talked about my thoughts regarding AI in the music industry, but it’s probably not hard for you all to know what side I stand on. I stand on the side of creativity and originality, and although I think AI is great for some mundane tasks that happen in the background of the music industry, it has absolutely zero place in what you hear and read. Why am I bringing this up now? Because Jack Shields & the Mojave Rush’s new song “Feel” is a giant middle finger to the face of AI, and I freaking love it.

A single from the album ‘Cherry Pick the Past,’ “Feel” doesn’t waste any time hitting you with a strong sense of attitude and swagger. The powerful intro gives way to a chill section of the song where the lyrics take over and really guide you into Jack Shields & the Mojave Rush’s world. “I don’t wanna feel like I don’t belong, 808 kit in a country song.” That’s the most memorable line in this song, and I love the way that it could be taken in so many different directions. It could be a nod to trying to fit in, or it could be a nod to going against the grain and sticking to your guns. Either way you want to take it, this memorable line, matched with the intense swagger and attention to detail that Jack Shields & the Mojave Rush showcase in this song, makes it one of those tracks that will light a spark in your heart in all of the right ways.
