Girl at the Rock Shows

Wait, is Halloween now a “take off work” kind of holiday? Knock on wood, but today has been super slow at my day job, which is amazing because I have a million and twelve other things to do right now. It’s not that I’m not busy, it’s more that I’m not being interrupted by annoying customers and their obnoxious questions (but I do love my job, don’t get me wrong). Again, not trying to jinx it, but will absolutely take advantage of this sense of peace and calm by checking out another brand new song and sharing it with all of you!

“Let’s Get Carried Away” is only the second studio release from Frida and The Mann, which is surprising because this song hits you with an undeniable sense of perfection. I like how there’s a super heavy and slightly sticky beat behind this song, but how the vocals and the instrumentation feel like stars above that heaviness. It’s a dazzling song that definitely leans into the pop genre at times, but at other times, this song reads like a good ol’ fashioned alt-rock sound. The power behind the vocals is impossible to miss. They are gorgeous but have a slightly intimidating tone to them, as if they are daring you to come into Frida and The Mann’s world and get lost. There are other moments throughout this song where I couldn’t help but compare this band to Fleetwood Mac, as there’s a distinctly classic vibe here. Long story short, “Let’s Get Carried Away” is an uber-powerful track that absolutely deserves your attention and love on this Halloween morning.
