Honestly, for how crappy I’m feeling, today is going pretty smoothly. Obviously, knock on wood, but it’s made for a pretty good morning. Although I’m absolutely still paying the price for my night of fun last night, I feel like I’m getting a lot done and deserve a little break and a treat, so let’s check out “Devil’s Son” from Pregame Rituals.

Pregame Rituals is the kind of band that hooks you right away. There’s so much power behind the first couple of seconds of this song, but there’s also something insanely beautiful and calming. I love how the drums throughout this song have a very driving beat to them, but the vocals seem to have a lighter flutter to them, creating a contrast that will trap you in Pregame Rituals’ world. There were moments in this song that reminded me a bit of the post-punk offerings of bands like Thrice, but others that had a more nostalgic pop-punk vibe, reminding me more of bands like June and Armor for Sleep. It’s a cool blend that will both wake you up and comfort you if you’re struggling today, making it the perfect track for me to spend some time with this morning because I both need a little wake-up energy but also need to feel calm and comforted. “Devil’s Son” is not a new song. In fact, it came out six years ago, but this song is a gateway drug of sorts because you will surely want to check out more from Pregame Rituals after just one listen to this track.
