I don’t know who Mr. Wazowski is or what paperwork is overdue. What I do know is that this new track from Woke Up Older caught me instantly.

This track is inspired by the 1940s comedy ‘Arsenic and Old Lace.’ Much like I have no clue who Mr. Wazowski is or what paperwork is overdue, I know nothing about this movie, but I know that I am intrigued enough by this song to maybe take some time tonight before my show to watch it. Right off the bat, Woke Up Older hits you with a little Motion City Soundtrack-style tenderness before you get to hear the full power of this band. Once that power hits, the influences I heard ranged from everything from Black Parade era My Chemical Romance to a Front Bottoms rawness. I loved the way that this band was able to bring in so many influences into this quick, almost four-minute-long track while also making sure that their unique sound came through loud and clear. This song is an anthemic jam and the kind of song that will get stuck in your head after just one listen, so go ahead, enjoy it again, and again, and again, and again.
