I’m crabby today. There’s no rhyme or reason for it. Honestly, it’s been a super good day so far, and I’m getting a lot done, but something in me is ready to rage. I blame it on the lack of shows lately. I just haven’t been in the mood to leave the warmth of my house, so I have been opting for cozy nights in rather than chilly nights out. I know that this is affecting my mental health. I need love music and, thankfully, I have a couple of shows tonight to help snap me out of it, but I still have an entire afternoon of work ahead of me. Thankfully, MX LONELY has a brand new song out, and just listening to “Shape Of An Angel” took me back to when I saw them perform live at Zhora Darling last October.
“Shape Of An Angel” is a song off of MX LONELY’s upcoming album ‘All Monsters’ (due out on February 20th). This song not only has me so excited about the album as a whole, but also the potential for another Minneapolis show. Although I think that’s still a hot minute away, I am more than happy to just listen to this track on repeat for the time being. This track is pure fire. I don’t mean just in the energy that comes with it, but also with the power that comes through the tenderness scattered throughout this song. Although it’s a powerful track, the vocals tell an emotional, cathartic story that hooks you, and the instrumentation seems to act as a bit of an aloe at times for that blistering catharsis, but, at the same time, burns on its own at other moments throughout this song. Blistering, cathartic, emotional, powerful, beautiful, intense– all of these words could describe “Shape Of An Angel” from MX LONELY but the biggest word to use to describe this track (and this band in general) is “perfection.”
