Girl at the Rock Shows

Although I’m feeling oddly rested and ready to take on the world today, more often than not, I feel like I’m “Running On Empty.” I know, I do it to myself. The nightly shows paired with the day job, a few other companies that I own, and trying to have a social life is just a lot to handle. Most days, I thrive on the stress of it, but there are some days when my tank is just so empty that there’s no saving it. Those days are rough because, ultimately, I can’t just stop and take a break; I have to keep going, but thankfully for me, I now have this song from Blue Mesa to help get me through those tough days.

Everything about this song caught my attention. First and foremost in the music. This is a catchy pop-punk anthem full of irresistible hooks and heartfelt vocals. It’s definitely a throwback to the golden age of pop-punk (which we all know was in the early 2000s), but there’s also a fresh twist to it with the energy that Blue Mesa has put into this song. The drums hit hard as the vocals do, but there’s a sweetness that comes through with some of the lines and phrases that really got my heart fluttering. Another thing that caught my attention with this song is the video. In classic pop-punk fashion, this video portrays the band playing kickball, but it’s not just a standard kickball game. There is a lot happening here, but the bright colors mixed with the smiles that are portrayed in the video and the smile that this video will surely put on your face make it perfect for those days when you just need a little pick-me-up.
