Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and, if you live in Minnesota, were able to somehow stay warm during the freezing temperatures. The sun is out, and the temperature is rising to a more tolerable level. Although work has already been a bit of a headache for me this morning, I’m feeling ready to take on the week and all of the ups and downs that will surely come with it and am so excited to fill the week with some new music so let’s jump right in with “Bamboozled!.otf (On the Fence)” from the theys and the thems.
the theys and the thems are a band from Iowa so, being an Iowa girl, I was instantly intrigued because, let’s be honest, there’s not a lot of music coming out of that godforsaken state. Have you ever heard of the band The Dare? They have a song out called “Girls,” and it’s one of my newest obsessions. That’s what this song reminds me of. Stylistically, “Bamboozled!.otf (On the Fence)” dabbles somewhere between electronic hip-hop and indie-rock. It has an infectious beat with muddy and gritty guitars that add a beefy layer to the track, and vocals that add a cool rhythm to the already rhythmic track. This song isn’t super fast or loud, but there’s something about it that instantly hooked me as much as it intrigued me. I don’t know much about the theys and the thems but I have a feeling that, by the end of the day, I will be an expert on this band because all I want to do is hear more unique tracks like this one.
