I’m a terrible gifter. It’s not that I don’t like giving gifts or anything like that. It’s more that I just don’t have the money to buy what I want for people, so I feel like I just can never get anything worth anything for anyone. It’s frustrating, but I just crossed off the final sub-par gift from my list, and it honestly feels pretty good to the point where I feel like I deserve a little celebration in the form of a new song.
I don’t know what “Superbad 1” sounds like or if that’s even a thing, but I know that Meathead caught me hook, line, and sinker with “Superbad 2.” There’s an intensity to this song that I found to be absolutely irresistible. The song, overall, is a pop-punk jam, but there’s just something extra spicy about it, a little bit more angst in the foreground and a little more grit in the back than you would expect from an anthemic pop-punk track. That being said, there’s also something oddly tender about this song. That mostly comes from the occasional instrumental breaks, which have a dazzling, star-studded quality rather than the harder edge of the vocals. The way that Meadhead blends these two very contrasting feelings and sounds is beautiful and leads to a truly flawless song, but don’t take my word for it. Check it out for yourself and make sure to show Meathead some love!
