It’s the kind of day where I can’t decide what I want to listen to. Do I want a trip down nostalgia lane with some classic pop-punk? Maybe a journey through some atmospheric electronic? Do I want to stick with my “Nu year- Nu Metal” theme of the year? I just can’t decide which means it’s time to start digging into some new music today starting with “WHITEWASH” from It Kills You.
“WHITEWASH” is the first track from It Kills You’s upcoming EP called ‘All Is Good.’ The band says that this is them diving into a new era. I have never heard of this band so I know nothing about their first EP but I know that they absolutely have my attention with this era of the band. This is a heavy-hitting, fast-paced song that is full of emotion and angst. The balance between extreme and sensitive that It Kills You showcases in this song is nothing short of stunning. Message wise, this song is about standing your ground no matter how hard things get. Even if you’re at your breaking point– stand your ground. That’s a message that, in this day and age where things can feel so overwhelming majority of the time, is so very important and the way that It Kills You wraps it up into such a powerful track truly could not be more perfect.
