I got nothing for you right now. I’m literally sitting at my desk sorting through hex nuts. My fingers are cut up and bleeding and my eyes are starting to see hex nuts everywhere. It’s not a great day but it’s a day and I’m ready for a little break from this sorting so let’s take a breather and check out “Dame To Kill For” from Ballast.
“”Dame To Kill For” is the first song from Ballast for 2026 and, holy heck, to say that this sets the bar high for this band this year would be an understatement. This track is infectious from the very first second. It’s pop-punk and infectious but there’s this almost brutal intensity to some of the words and the strong beat that give this song a little extra edge and make it feel a bit like a throwback to the early 2000’s. The subject matter of this song could not have been better for my current mood. It’s a song about trying to find balance between being a creative and being an adult. It’s about being frustrated that you have to have a job that lowkey sucks the soul out of you but, at the same time, being thankful for the art and people that fill your life with joy. Seriously, what a perfect song for a Thursday on what feels like the slowest moving quick week ever.
