I don’t know why but the title of this song evokes such a sense of emotion out of me. Honestly, I feel almost attacked by the title. I wish I could explain it more but, before even hearing this song, I felt a deep connection with Archi Deep just based on those five words. That connection only deepened when I pushed play on the track.
It okay to not be okay. That’s a simple enough statement and one that I think we can all get behind but one that is hard to put into practice. Not being okay is often taken as a sign of weakness but Archi Deep challenges that and urges you to remember that sometimes, asking for help is a good thing. I’ll agree with that and I love how that energy comes through loud and clear throughout this song. There are moments of raw and tender vulnerability followed by moments that feel more like sheer chaos and angst. This constant give and take tells the story of, well, life. If you follow the story, it describes the moments when you feel like everything sucks and nothing will get better but then there are moments of rage that seem to remind you that that’s okay and everybody gets down sometimes. Mental health is a bitch. There’s no other way to put it but I love songs like “Everybody Thinks That I’m Alive” that remind you that you aren’t alone. I can’t thank Archi Deep enough for this song and this message on this gloomy Tuesday morning.
