I’m having a very sad lunch today. Honestly, I just didn’t have the time to put thought into it so I threw some frozen ravioli in a tupperware container, threw some sauce over that, and called it good. I wish I could say this was the first time I’ve done this lunch but my coworkers called it my “divorced dad meal” meaning i I bring it enough for it to have a name. Although fairly sad, it could be worse. This has nothing to do with “let you down” from WEAREOKAY but is, in itself, a bit of a let down.
I love the fact that “let you down” is a sad boy anthem but it hits you with an insane amount of positive energy at the same time. The balance that WEAREOKAY has found between the tender vocals of this track and the more anthemic instrumentation is something that should be envied. Another thing that should be envied is the way WEAREOKAY has a super nostalgic, classic early 2000s pop punk vibe here but with a modern flair. I say that a lot, I know, but it’s something that I hear a lot of bands try to pull off and fail. Not WEAREOKAY, they pull it off and then some creating a sound that I have a feeling will be the soundtrack to my summer if they keep on this track.
