It’s been just over a year since I had the chance to interview JulianGK about his song “Game of Blood.” I know a year feels like a lifetime ago at this point but JulianGK is one of those bands that I keep going back to. There was just something about the music and the overall message of said music that had me hooked so when I got an email that JulianGK was back at it with a new song, I couldn’t wait to check it out.

Although a quick song at just two and a half minutes long, “Waves of Change” packs a punch. It’s has JulianGK’s signature blend of 90’s alt rock and 00’s pop-punk all wrapped up with this feeling of DIY grit that makes it irresistible. Add in the message of strength and bravery that comes up in the message of this song and you are left with a true masterpiece. Personally, it’s the message of this track that really hooked me. “Waves of Change” is the kind of song that reminds you that change doesn’t have to be bad and, although scary at times, can actually lead to bigger and better things so you just have to kind of roll with it. I know, easier said than done but when you have a soundtrack like this song, it definitely helps get you through those “Waves of Change” that seem to come at us with every turn.
