Girl at the Rock Shows

Was standing outside in a cold mist to see Dropkick Murphys play a free, acoustic set really the way I should have spent my Friday afternoon? Absolutely. It’s an event that I’m so glad I didn’t miss but now that it’s Saturday, I’m realizing how far behind on work I am so, instead of having a calm, casual Saturday as I like to do, I will be trying to get through piles of work and I need the perfect soundtrack to help me get through it. That perfect soundtrack starts with “With You” from Victories.

Victories is a pop-punk band from Montreal with a pop-punk-perfect kind of sound which can be heard loud and clear in their new single “With You.” Really, there’s nothing new here but that’s not a bad thing. This song is full of nostalgia and nods to pop-punk bands of years gone by but there’s this energy behind the three minute and seventeen second song that makes it feel super fresh and will definitely grab your ears and heart. Lyrically, this song is a love story. Maybe it’s to a person, maybe a place, and that’s the magic behind this track. I love that this song could be an ode to anything you love. It makes it relatable and oh so sweet while the band’s endless energy lifts up your spirits and energy in such a perfect way. I wish there was more to say about this song but, ultimately, this is just one of those classic good kind of songs that you just have to hear for yourself.
