Girl at the Rock Shows

I walked into a million fires at my day job and a mess of an inbox when it comes to everything else i do. It’s just another manic Monday as cliche as that is and I’m just not having it. I don’t have the patience or the drive to get much of anything done right now but that just sitting here and letting time pass me by is not an option. I’m doing everything in my power to not reach a “Catatonic” kind of state where I just say screw it to everything and I’m hoping that filling my day with some new music will help keep me going.

“Cataonic” from Dummy Head Torpedo is the kind of energy I need on a day like this. This song is fast and frantic but somehow stops short of feeling chaotic. I know that some people would say that frantic and chaotic are basically the same thing but take a listen to this quick, two and a half minute song, and you’ll understand the difference. There’s something desperate about this song that I instantly latched onto. It kind of feels like a race against time in a way which fit my current mood so perfectly. Not only is there speed and energy here, there’s something about the vocals that wrapped around me like a warm hug. Don’t get me wrong, there’s grit and fire behind every word but there’s also something almost reassuring about them. This entire post feels a bit like a contradiction and it feels like choosing the right words to describe “Catatonic” is a bit of a delicate dance but that just goes to prove the complexity and perfection behind this track.
