Girl at the Rock Shows

I’ve always been a pretty political person but, as of late, I feel like I’ve been more political than usual. I’m just so fed up with everything but that kind of goes without saying. I mean, who isn’t. Who isn’t unhappy with the state of the world right now? Who is okay with all of the atrocities being committed around the world? If you aren’t paying attention to what’s going on, you need to change that. If you’re okay with what’s going on, you need to find a different blog to read because, like The Friends stated when they sent me their track “Show Your Face, “Please don’t listen to this if you’re a racist, immigrant-hating MAGA type…”

“Show Your Face” from The Friends is a quick song at just under two and a half minutes but it packs a punch. That punch is not only a punch of poignant and politically-charged lyrics, it’s a punch of swagger, energy, and grit. Really, this song is pretty simple. The lyrics are tongue-in-cheek and the instrumentation feels a bit hollow and, quite frankly, a little rough around the edges but it’s perfect. This song somehow feels both thrown together and perfectly curated all at the same time. “Show Your Face” is the kind of track that makes you want to raise your fist, put your boots to the ground, and do something about everything. It’s perfect especially as we are just days away from the No Kings rallies that will take place across the country. If I were you, I suggest blasting this song as you make the trek to your closest rally on Saturday.
