Happy Tuesday, everyone. I can already feel that it’s going to be an insanely busy day but I’m determined to carve out some time to check out some new music because that’s what my soul is craving right now so let’s get the day started off right by checking out “Fruit Bearing Yields” from Lateral.
The focus track from Lateral’s debut EP ‘Entrance,’ “Fruit Bearing Yields” is one of those songs that is somehow just as laid back as it is energized. Stylistically, I would say that this track lies between a super funky math rock kind of vibe and something a bit more nostalgic and emo. It’s a cool blend that will make you lost in a haze of memory while giving you something fresh to hold onto. It’s a song about guilt but it’s so much more complicated than just that. It talks about how guilt is just the beginning and how that feeling can run so much deeper. Okay, it’s complicated but, much like the overall composition of the track, that complicated feeling is soothed over by the talent and perfection that is Lateral.
