Chalk Hands is a band that I’ve shared out many singles from. A lot of these singles are from their new album ‘The Line That Shapes the Coast of Us.’ Just in case you haven’t checked out this full album or feel like maybe this isn’t worth your time, I’m here to share the final single from this album, “A Comfort You Borrow” just to make sure you understand that this album is definitely worth your time and attention.
Although this track is the shortest one on the album at just under two minutes, it is a great snapshot look at what this band is all about. The song starts off calm and chill but, after about thirty seconds, all hell breaks loose in the best way possible. “A Comfort You Borrow” is a perfect example of the restraint that this band has. Although it’s a furious eruption of sound and emotion, Chalk Hands remains in control the entire time. This track slightly reminds me of bands like La Dispute and Touche Amore with the way they seem to juxtapose beauty and chaos. You can call this song post-hardcore, call it post-rock, you could call it a million different things but one thing is for sure, this quick little song will surely drag you into the beautifully chaotic and powerful world that is Chalk Hands.
