We’ve reached the homestretch of my day job for the day. Typically, now is when I put my head down and power through work but I’m not feeling that today. I am, however, feeling the urge to check out some more new music so, work be damned, let’s cool down the jets for the day and just ride the rest of the day out with some new music like “Rare Dingen” from Ellen ten Damme.

I’ll be the first to admit that this song is very poppy compared to what I typically share out but, within the first twenty seconds, it reminded me a bit of CSS and I just couldn’t help myself but fall head over heels in love with Ellen ten Damme because of that. Although this definitely has CSS tendencies, there’s a spark in this song that feels so fresh and unique that it can only be called Ellen ten Damme. Although the song is in Dutch and I know zero Dutch, I can tell you that this song is about the absurd amount of time women spend on their appearance. Although I’m not as guilty as some, I am guilty of this and love how this song kind of reminds you just how strange and, quite frankly, stupid it is. I love how Ellen ten Damme makes fun of this whole practice (and in turn, herself) with this track and feel like it just adds to the spark of creativity, fun and love that comes through loud and clear throughout this infectious little bop.
