I know I said that I was going to work on getting caught up on things the other day but life just keeps getting in the way and, honestly, I was exhausted after a trip out of town. I’m back now and, although I can’t promise how many songs I am going to share with you today or how much work I’m going to get done, I’m going to be sure to start today off right by checking out “John Connor” from Approaching Autumn.
This song isn’t new. It came out four years ago but I just recently fell into Approaching Autumn’s world and, because of that, I feel like I keep on finding gems like this song that absolutely deserve some attention even if it’s years late. There’s drama behind this song. Not just in the overall composition of the track, but also in the message. It’s a song about putting all of your trust into someone just to get stabbed in the back. A tale as old as time but one that we all deal with regardless of age. I love how Approaching Autumn is able to put the pain and grit into this song that matches the feeling of the message so perfectly. Add in this band’s knack for perfection and heaviness and you are left with an absolutely flawless track. Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself and then, like me, fall into Approaching Autumn’s world and check out everything else this Flint, Michigan-based band has to offer.
