Honestly, younger me would hate admitting that I have a taste for country music. Okay, maybe what I listen to isn’t quite country proper but it’s country adjacent. If you know me well, you know that Lucero is my number one band of all time. Their alt-country sound is definitely a bit out of left field but it’s something that has always spoken to my soul and, as life gets a little bit crazier and I try to take more time for things that I love, I find myself going down an alt-country rabbit hole more often than not. GOLDTOOTH is now part of that alt-country rabbit hole.
Although I would absolutely consider “Bringing Her Down” a song with country-tendencies, there’s so much grit that it’s hard not to hear a punk influence radiate throughout this four minute track. Add in an infectious almost 90s style hook and an almost rockabilly kind of energy and you are left with a truly flawless track. I love how this song comes at you with grit and energy but it makes you feel so cozy. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing, within the first few seconds of this song, you will feel like you’re home wrapped up in your favorite blanket with your favorite warm beverage in hand. For a manic day after being off of work for a week and a long holiday weekend on top of that, this was just what I needed to keep me level headed as I continue to plug away at getting caught up.
