Dang. I still have nothing quirky for you this morning. It’s just another day of work. Nothing exciting, nothing bad, nothing good, just another morning where checking out new music is the only thing that is keeping me motivated, so instead of trying to come up with some quirky and fun intro, let’s just dive right into “Little Death” from Long Gone.
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve shared out a song that is truly pop-punk-perfection, but that’s exactly what “Little Death” is. It’s that perfect blend of something super nostalgic with something very modern. Vocally, this song instantly reminded me of Simple Plan, but the instrumentation doesn’t lean into the more poppy sound that Simple Plan. Really, the instrumentation adds the perfect sense of depth to this song that really conveys the emotion that can be felt throughout this song. From an anthemic chorus that feels big enough to be ready for an arena to super catchy guitar solos that have just the perfect amount of dissonance to keep you engaged without feeling too out of left field, I just can not understate how perfect this song is. “Little Death” from Long Gone will have you pumping your fist during one second and then swaying back and forth with a warmth in your heart the next.
