Girl at the Rock Shows

It has only been a couple of weeks since I shared out “Rat Bastard” from Mock Media with ya’ll, but this is a band that hasn’t left my head since then, so I was stoked when their name came across my desk yet again and just could not wait to check out “Mock City Rock.”

Right off the bat, the swagger and attitude of this song instantly had me hooked. It’s fun and made even more fun by the dramatic video that comes with the song, but at the same time, it’s well done. This band isn’t a joke band by any means, but they also don’t take themselves too seriously, and I feel like that just adds to the swagger of their classic rock n’ roll sound. Stylistically, this song, as mentioned, is classic rock n’ roll, but it also has this very strong 80’s kind of vibe with an almost glam rock kind of sensibility behind it. Really, like their music video, it’s all over the place and nothing about it makes sense, but it all works so perfectly together purely due to the talent and creativity that backs that British Columbia-based band.
