I am a millennial and, let me tell you, it’s not the best thing to be. We millennials have been through the wringer. We’ve seen it all and, although most of us are just in our thirties, we’ve lived a million lives. I mean, just think about it. We’ve seen everything from 9/11 to the COVID pandemic; boy bands to SoundCloud rap– it’s been a wild ride, and it has left a lot of us feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed by it all. That’s where “Millennial Freakshow” from Hessian Renegade comes in.

I’m not sure whether the band members of Hessian Renegade are millennials, but it’s easy to hear that this song is for millennials. It’s an angsty little number soaked in angst, grit, and cynicism. A little nu-metal, a little alt-rock, and a whole lot of power, this song is a rage-fueled anthem for those days when you hate being a millennial. Hessian Renegade is a duo made up of Conor Moore and Ross McCann. The duo starts as a 90’s era hip-hop group but quickly evolved into something much less classifiable as heard in this single. That being said, you can feel the 90s influence throughout this song, with a rage-and-out-of-control vibe that comes through loud and clear. That mixed with the piss and vinegar that Hessian Renegade put into this song leaves you with an anthem that will leave you feeling seen and also leave you with an outlet for all of the pent-up rage and aggression that growing up the way we all did has left in your soul.
