Happy Friday, everyone. We’ve made it and I celebrated with trying one of those new Mountain Dew dunker donut things. Honestly, it wasn’t terrible, and I feel like that’s a sign that today is going to be a good day. Well, that and the fact that I’m starting my day off with “Distance & Promesse” from Louise BSX and Sarah Maison.
The heavy beat that kicks this song off will instantly draw you into both Louise BSX and Sarah Maison’s world so perfectly. This track is transfixing as the beat stays heavy, but the vocals stay light and airy, creating an atmosphere that feels like a jungle. Okay, that jungle vibe may be because of the music video that shows these two songstresses wandering through nature while being adorably dolled up. At first listen, this song feels very light-hearted, almost fun even, but when you dig a bit deeper, you realize that not all things are as they seem. This is actually a breakup song, but it’s a breakup song for the people who won’t let it keep them down. Louise BSX and Sarah Maison flip the script on what a breakup should lead to. Instead of a breakdown, it leads to a come-up. An infectious dance of subtle energy and deafening emotion. Call it electronic, call it pop, call it whatever you want, this lovely song is just that- lovely.
