Today is one of those days where I can’t settle into one genre of music. I’ll start an album or a playlist and be into it for about four songs, but then, in the blink of an eye, it no longer feels right, and I move on. This musical ADHD is fun because it helps remind me that genres mean nothing and I’m having fun discovering and rediscovering some new things but, at the same time, I feel like I can’t settle into my day because I can’t settle into a sound. Maybe checking out “TROUBLE IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.” from ochre will help out with that.

Out of everything I’ve listened to thus far today, nothing has been particularly heavy and although I’ve heard music much heavier than this single from ochre, there’s something ridiculously heavy and deep about this song that hit a craving I didn’t know I had this morning. Stylistically, you could call this post-punk or post-hardcore but I feel like that leads a certain sound popping up in your mind which will not match that of ochre. There’s a panicked kind of chaos in this song that instantly spoke to my racing thoughts. At the same time, there’s something almost minimalistic about the instrumentation in this song (which, I know, makes very little sense given how heavy it is) that gave me space to breathe this morning. A little Ceremony mixed with something a bit more Drug Church feeling, “TROUBLE IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.” from ochre is a powerful song that will speak to your body, mind, and soul all in such a perfect and powerful way.
