I’ve become slightly obsessed with the weather lately. I don’t know what it is, but on stormy days, I find myself watching storm chasers obsessively. It’s exciting and terrifying all at the same time, and, quite frankly, it fascinates me how powerful Mother Nature can be. This has very little to do with “Can’t Feel” from Cloudsurfers, but when I read the band’s bio, and it mentioned that their sound is a “mutant strand of garage punk, post-grunge and psychedelic rock rolls with the glee of a bunch of death-defying storm chasers,” I got intrigued.

I may have been hooked by that description to begin with, but it didn’t take me long to get hooked by this Netherlands-based band in general after pressing play on “Can’t Feel.” The second single from Cloudsurfers’ upcoming album (which is due out on October 2nd), this song is explosive, much like the weather I love to watch. It’s a fierce anthem with an almost haunting element to the vocals that smooths over the instrumentation’s power in a super cool way. It has a weathered kind of vibe to it that brings a subtle vintage tone to the song, which seems to enhance the sheer grit that comes through loud and clear with every beat of this three-minute and eleven-second song. Typically, I’m a lyrics lady and find words in songs to relate to, but when it comes to “Can’t Feel,” the lyrics took a backseat to everything else, and I felt myself completely lost in the sonic pleasure that is Cloudsurfers.
