I don’t know if any of my four cats know who their mom is. Really, they are spoiled brats that run my house like it is their own personal kingdom. They have loads of toys, lounging stations in the window, water bowls everywhere, and little beds scattered about the house so they can change their view every once in a while. I do all of that, but still wake up daily with scratches all over me. So are they glad who their mom is? Who knows, but I know I love them with all my heart, and I also know that this song from Suzie Crabgrass has nothing to do with cats other than the title, so let’s just move on from my crazy cat lady rambling and check this song out.
“Our Cat (Is Glad Who His Mom Is)” is a nostalgic pop-punk banger that the band admits is inspired by Blink-182. Honestly, they didn’t even have to tell me that. You can hear the Blink-182 inspiration right off the bat, but you also hear Suzie Crabgrass loud and clear throughout this quick, two-minute, and forty-five-second song. I know I said that this song isn’t really about cats. It’s apparently about being “embarrassingly in love with your wife (based on a true story).” I don’t have a wife or husband to relate this song to, so, naturally, with cats on my mind, I related the words of love, admiration, and obsession to my cats. It worked perfectly, proving that this song can be an ode to anyone or anything you want. Maybe you don’t even want a love song like this. Maybe you just want a track to get your blood pumping today. Either way, Suzie Crabgrass is here for you.
