If you’ve been following me a bit, you know that I don’t really hate my day job. It’s a bit boring and definitely less than glamorous, but I work for a great family-owned company, and I love the way that they kind of let me do all of the other things I do while I’m here– as long as I get the day job stuff done first. Although I don’t hate it, today is one of those dead-as-dead kind of days where I feel like being here is just stupid. Clearly, I’m getting a lot done, but I would love to be getting a lot done from the comfort of my own home. Although I don’t really hate my job, “I Hate My Job” from David Quinn is kind of hitting the spot for me right now.

There’s grit and angst that come through loud and clear in this song, but I think it’s David’s swagger that really got me hooked. As you may have suspected, this song is about working for the man and realizing that you hate it, so, as David urges you in this song, say screw it. It’s time to choose your own direction and find your own path. I love how this is a passion-fueled topic, and love how you can feel that throughout this song while still getting David’s talent in the spotlight. There are moments of grit, moments of tenderness, moments of angst, depression, euphoria, and everything in between scattered throughout this song. Really, it’s always evolving, but the one thing that stays the same throughout this song is the fire and passion of David Quinn, and that is more than enough to create an absolutely flawless song.
