Girl at the Rock Shows

One of the bands I saw last night just asked for a link to the photos I took. This band happens to be one of my favorite bands of all time so, yeah, I’m feeling pretty good right now. I’m not sure that they will use them or what’s going to happen, but it just means the world to me to know that they really liked my work, especially as someone who is never quite sure if I have what it takes to “get the shot” or not. I feel like I’m on cloud nine, but with work piling up on my desk, I need to come back down to earth. I’m not sure that “But I’m a… Starr” from A Very Special Episode is going to do that, but I do know that my heart is telling me to check out this track right now.

I was in love with this song before the music even started because of the fun that is clearly being had in the music video, and I only fell deeper in love when the music kicked in. This song is a screaming rock anthem, but it doesn’t fit a cookie-cutter kind of rock song. There’s artistry behind this song and video alike, and also a sense of swagger that makes every single note and beat of this song drip with passion and fire. I love how this song can go from arena-ready power to something a bit more whispered (albeit heavily whispered) and fierce in just the blink of an eye. It adds a real sense of uniqueness and almost an avant-garde DIY kind of feel to the song that will surely get you hooked. “But I’m a… Starr” is the first song from A Very Special Episode’s upcoming self-titled EP which is due out next week so, if you like what you hear (and see) here, please make sure to show this band some love so you don’t miss the drop of what is sure to be a phenomenal EP.
