What color are your eyes? Mine are mostly green, but they are the kind of eyes that can change with the weather, what I’m wearing, and my mood. Some days they look more blue, others more hazel; some days they just look like a mess of a million colors, but, for the most part, they are green, so I instantly gravitated to “Green Eyes” from The Spitting Pips.
Although I came to this song because I felt like I could relate, I got hooked by so much more than just that. “Green Eyes” is the perfect summer anthem. It has grit, and it has swagger, but most importantly, it has heart. I love how this song kicks off with an almost dangerous feeling to it before it shifts into an incredibly catchy little bop. “Green Eyes” is the kind of song that makes you want to turn the volume up and roll the windows down. The entire song is a game of tug o’ war between swagger and anthemic vibes which makes the three minutes and twelve seconds that it lasts feel like it’s over in just the blink of a green eye. Really, this song isn’t complicated or overly deep. It’s one of those tracks that just makes you feel good and will give you a boost of energy if you are dealing with a super rainy and dreary day like I am.
