Girl at the Rock Shows

Everyone always seems to look forward to Fridays because it signals the end of the work week and the beginning of a weekend. That’s not quite how I work. Although I love Fridays because that means I don’t have to come to the office for two days, it doesn’t mean I get a break. I tend to work through my weekends meaning that Fridays have lost some of their shine but Friday, September 11th will not be that way. That’s a Friday I’m really looking forward to because it’s the day that Animcal Scream’s new album ‘Midnight Summer’ comes out. I know it’s not the 11th yet but I have a sneak preview of their track “Book Of Love” for your consumption today so how about we all get stoked about Friday, September 11th together!

“Book Of Love” may not feel like a Friday pump-up jam, but when the three-minute journey that is this song is over, it will surely have you in the right mindset to close out your week on a good note. This is a blissful track full of slightly ambient tones and an insane amount of emotion. “Book Of Love” shimmers like an endless ocean but also hits hard at certain points like peaks of waves crashing over you. It’s truly a mesmerizing song that is made for the daydreamers and those of us who don’t really know how to slow down because, truthfully, it makes you chill out if only for a couple of minutes.

It’s funny that I found this song to feel a bit like an ocean and chose that wording to describe it because it ends up that Chad Monticue from Animal Scream came up with this song while floating in the sea. “I found myself touring Gijón, Spain. Floating in the sea, I fell asleep on the sands of a breezy overcast beach. Later I snapped the cover photo in a club & wrote the melody of “Book Of Love”, a song about self love, which is the hardest kind.” I’ll agree, self-love is incredibly difficult but “Book Of Love” from Animal Scream makes it feel a little less daunting and gives you the time and space to practice self-love in a beautiful way.
