It’s the last day of the month, which means my day job is a bit insane, but I’m sitting here at my desk, trying to ignore the chaos. I just don’t want a chaotic day. I want a chill kind of day where I can just do what I want and get things done while finding time for things I enjoy, like new songs. I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to make this carefree feeling last, but we may as well take advantage of it for the time being and kick the day off right with “One Eye Open” from Caskey.
“One Eye Open” s the lead single from Caskey’s upcoming album ‘More Alive Than Ever.’ The song starts off slow and smooth but eventually evolves into a bold track full of gritty gutiars and honest words that will absolutely speak to your heart. I love the way that this song seems to move through a bunch of genres all the way from alt-rock to something a bit more singer-songwriter feeling. There are even moments in this song that had a Machine Gun Kelly kind of pop-punk edge to them. Although the overall vibe of this song seems to be constantly changing, one thing doesn’t and that’s Caskey’s delivery of raw and honest vocals. Lyrically, this is a song about protecting your creativity. It’s about bucking the trends and staying true to yourself which is such a perfect message for a song this unique and perfect.
