At first, I wanted to laugh at the title of this track from Death Cassette, but that urge ot laugh quickly turned into disgust because, well, it’s probably true– it probably is “Cheaper To Die.” Thankfully, I didn’t have time to dwell on this existential dread because, as soon as I hit play on this song, I was whisked away to Death Cassette’s world, and that’s a world I never want to leave.

The title track from their upcoming full-length LP, “Cheaper To Die,” is a gritty, straight-ahead punk anthem that talks about how messed up the healthcare system is. Inspired by vocalist Amanda’s experience working at a nursing home and caring for her own chronically ill grandfather, you can feel everything from anger to defeat throughout this song, and I feel like it just reflects the message behind this song so perfectly. “Cheaper to Die” is not the first song that I’m sharing from this Manitoba-based band, and it won’t be the last, so get ahead of the trend and throw these guys some love and a follow on their socials. This is definitely a band that I have my eyes and ears on right now.
