It’s a Monday and it absolutely feel like it. On top of being a Monday, I’m dealing with the remnants of a nasty case of strep throat. I’m lagging but trying not to be too hard on myself as I know my body needs some time to get to feeling better. That being said, I have too much work to just sleep this off all day. Thankfully, “Airplane” from Bike Routes is blaring loud this morning and it’s helping me stay level headed.

This song has an optimistic jangle to it while having deep lyrics and an overall punch of emotion in it. Bridging the gaps between indie rock, folk rock, and emo pop-punk, this song truly hits the spot this morning both instrumentally and lyrically. I’m not sure how David Lawrence Osterhout (who is Bike Routes) knew how to speak to my soul on such a personal level but he really nailed it. I love the way certain words have an almost sense of aggression attached to them without making this song feel aggressive or in your face in any way. It’s really a heart-on-your-sleeve styled song without the cliche acoustic whining style that so many bands and acts rely on to convey this sort of emotion.

As mentioned, this song hit the spot this morning and I have a feeling that it would hit the spot for me every morning. Give it a listen and show Bike Routes some love!
