It’s hard to believe that it is already Friday again. Like every other week, I feel like yesterday was Monday and I am wondering where in the heck time went. I got kind of lost in this thought and wondering if I had gotten enough work done where I could be happy with the week and that’s when I hit play on “Song of Hope” from Spark of Life.
This song instantly hit me right in the gut with a wave of understanding and empathy in a way. I felt like the band understood the hole I had dug in my own head and they were offering a hand to help me get out. A perfect blend of nostalgia and new, this song reminded me of everything from Senses Fail to The Menzingers and everything in-between. Dazzling guitars and heartfelt vocals are the name of the game when it comes to the song which, as you may have picked up on, is exactly what I look for.
I have to be honest, I was so wrapped up in this song in general that I only glanced at the video a few times but, after a couple of glances, I had to do a double take. Check out the drummer. Look familiar? It’s not a selling point on this band but the fact that they Fred Armisen on drums was definitely a happy surprise.
