Girl at the Rock Shows

The Welters had pitched their new song “Back For More” as a great highway tune. I had to sit and think on what that meant a wee bit but, as soon as I hit play on this track, it made sense.

Something about this song just makes you want to get in a car with the windows down and the volume up. A driving beat mixed with garage-rock sounding vocals and an infectious indie-rock style, there’s just something so fresh about this. It may be fairly cold up here in the Twin Cities right now but listening to this song made me feel the summer sun on my face in a perfect way. There are no big surprises in this track but that’s what makes it so solid. With a tone and overall composition that is super reminiscent of The Strokes, I loved that The Welters clearly weren’t trying too hard to be something they aren’t. The classic vibe of this track and just overall solid presentation of it is truly flawless.

Although the influence of The Strokes is super strong in this song, I feel like The Welters have a little special twist on it that keep it from becoming a carbon copy and is sure to katapult this band to a national status in no time.
