As soon as I read the title of PLZ RESPND’s new song “Business Chicken” I got a funny image in my head. I literally saw a chicken running around wearing a suit and tie while carrying a briefcase. What can I say, it’s been a day and I’m ready to go but not before I check out this track to see if it’s as quirky as the image I have in my head.
Although I don’t think “quirky” is the right way to describe “Business Chicken” from PLZ RSPND, this song is solid and perfect. This self proclaimed “drunk punk quintet” from NYC has a sound and style that is infectious. I know that I call it perfect but I’m not sure if you will get that same vibe. As the “drunk punk” comment may point to, there’s something a little sloppy about this song. The vocals feel a bit lazy and seem to move a bit slower than the instrumentation but that’s what makes this song so perfect. This laid back yet energetic vibe creates a perfect skate-punk styled vibe that is absolutely worthy of an afternoon spent playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater on your PS2.
