Are you looking for something sweet and something that just makes you smile? Try “North” from Babes in Canyon out.

This song is fun and light-hearted. It’s playful and will make you forget all of the stresses that come along with a manic Monday. Even with this sweetness and playfulness, there’s something slightly dark and very deep about this track that I found super addicting and intriguing. The vocals have a very indie-pop tone to them but, again, it’s so much more than that so I will stop short of calling this an indie-pop jam. The chorus of this track will absolutely become an ear worm within your first listen so brace yourself but also, enjoy it because this song will inevitably bring you joy and hope.

Before I give you the single, here’s a super great quote from Nathan Hamer of Babes in Canyon regarding “North”:

I wrote North years back during some darker days when I didn’t think I’d ever perform music live for an audience again. It was stream-of-consciousness writing (like the beat poets of the 50s minus the Benzedrine) and I finished the whole song in one sitting. It sat on the shelf for years until I brought it to Babes In Canyon, where it really became fleshed out into a full song. The bowing technique you hear is me bowing on a baritone ukulele (an experiment I started doing with loops during live shows). We’re thrilled to finally share this track off our upcoming EP “Year To Live”.
