I hate drama in my life but, when it comes to my music, I love it. I love a song that shakes you to your core whether that comes from the drama in the instrumentation, drama in the vocals, or drama in the lyrics. You get drama from everything about “Sometimes You Gotta Be A Bitch” from Drama Dolls so to say this was perfect for me would be an understatement.
This song instantly jumps into a classic punk-vibe leaving you no time to really ease into Drama Dolls’ sound or this song but that’s okay. It’s classic, nostalgic and familiar while still being exciting and keep you on your toes. Although I definitely think this is mainly based in the punk scene, there were moments throughout this nearly three minute song where I was getting a more alt-rock leaning vibe. Regardless, there was a very Riot Grrrl attitude that came through loud and clear with both the lyrics and the delivery of said lyrics. I mean, I guess that could have been assumed solely based on the song title but may as well lay it all out for you. This is the type of song that will make you want to raise your first and start a one-person moshpit at your desk. Let it happen. It will truly add that little special spice to your day that you’ve been missing.
