My day was going so well. I was getting so much done but then that one email came through. You know that one. The one that ruins your entire day. It makes you want to get up from your desk, flip said desk, and just leave the office and take a nap. That email just came through (well, actually like four of them) but I won’t let it get the best of me. The sun is (kind of) shining and I’m feeling good about what I’ve gotten done thus far today so let’s ignore those crappy emails and check out another new track!
“Fake Friends” had just the right kind of energy that I needed today. It feels like a bit of a throwback track in some ways with the heavy synth sounds and the almost 80’s pop influence that comes through because of it but it still somehow feels fresh. I think that is mostly due to the vocals. Somehow, although nothing else in this song scream pop-punk, the vocals come across as pop-punk-perfection. They are catchy, infectious, full of heart, and, at times, even come to your speakers as a classic gang vocal style. Whether you get hooked by the pop-punk vocals or the most 80s inspired instrumentation of this song, you will surely get hooked and “Fake Friends” from Red Weather will surely be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
