the title of this new track from nothingland is a sentiment that I feel more often than I probably should. Thankfully, today is not one of those days but I know that a day where I “feel like [I] should quit” is just ahead so I’m hoping this is a song that I can keep in my back pocket for what that feeling strikes.
This shoegazy anthem has a sound that teeters between the world of Modest Mouse and Sunny Day Real Estate. There’s almost a spacey atmosphere to the track but, at the same time, there’s no lack of energy or passion. I love the subtle grunge influence that you can hear seep into this song here and there. This makes sense as nothingland is a trio from Ellensburg, Washington– you know, grunge country. The harmonies throughout “feel like you should quit” are lush and the vocals comes with a laidback yet passionate sense of fire behind them. All of these things create an energy in this song that makes it the perfect soundtrack for those days when you “feel like you should quit” so, if you’re having one of those days (we all have them), go ahead and push play on this masterpiece and let the music of nothingland bring you a sense of comfort and understanding.
