Girl at the Rock Shows

I love it when you hit play on a song thinking you can just continue going on about your day but, instead, the song forces you to stop everything. That’s exactly what happened as soon as I hit play on “Cold Dead Hands” from Blind Adam and the Federal League.

I feel like I’ve been stuck in a world of angst lately so when the folksy sound of the intro of this track took over, it made me stop for a second. I figured that this is where the song would stop and end and, although I would enjoy it, I would be able to continue getting stuff done. Instead, just a couple of seconds in perfectly placed punk styled gang vocals come in and take this song off. The vocals shift from something almost a bit Flogging Molly styled to something a bit more angsty and reminiscent of Rancid. Even those two styles sound like they would be super different and create and almost clash in a song, Blind Adam and the Federal League blends them together so perfectly. “Cold Dead Hands” is angsty and anthemic. It’s a song that was written “in response to some members of the Proud Boys showing up to a music festival we played in 2022” and you can feel that passion, anger, and fight come through loud and proud. Everything about Blind Adam and the Federal League is perfect and this song is a good gateway into their world.
