Girl at the Rock Shows

Oh yes– the familiar after lunch early afternoon slump. I’m dragging guys but I have so much to do and, mixed with an early show tonight, that means there’s no time for a nap or slowing down. I must keep going and “Farewell Gloriosa” from Revelry better help me snap out of the hazy slump I’ve found myself in.

Although “Farewell Gloriosa” isn’t super energetic in the normal sense of the word, the amount of fire and passion that this song made me feel in my heart was exactly what I needed. Honestly, this song couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. It’s an anthemic pop-punk jam about how people may think you’re crazy for chasing your dreams but it doesn’t stop you. To say that I needed to hear and feel that sentiment right now as I look at my calendar and the never-ending to-do list on my desk would be an understatement but there’s also something so special about this track. Although it’s perfectly polished, so well produced, and perfectly composed, there was something raw about the vocal delivery that pulled at my heartstrings. They are gorgeous but come with this very heart-on-your-sleeve feeling in a strange way. I can’t quite put my finger on it or even compare it to another act out there but I can tell you that it’s what makes “Farewell Gloriosa” a standout song and Revelry a “must pay attention to” band.
