It has started to snow up here in Minneapolis. We are supposed to get a measurable amount of snow today which has me super excited. I mean, I don’t live in Minneapolis for the hot and sunny summers. I may be a bit of a freak but I love the sense of coziness that comes with a good snow and although they aren’t expecting the feet upon feet of snow that my heart craves, I’ll live with a “measurable amount”. This cozy feeling is not helping me as far as getting back on top with the work I slacked off on over the weekend so I need a song to keep my head in the game and that’s exactly where Kid Prexy’s new single “I Think That’ You’re Pretty” comes in.
This is a pop-punk-perfect track through and through. I love the way the video kicks off before the actual song does. The video starts with an epic jump from the vocalist (Kid Prexy) before the he comes in with this emotionally drenched and powerful vocals alongside a grinding guitar sound and slamming drums. It’s a subtle thing and something you only catch if you watch the super cute video that comes with “I Think That You’re Pretty” but it definitely hooked me. Beyond that, I loved that this song has a very modern vibe to it. You definitely get a Travis Barker inspired style with the drums and an almost Machine Gun Kelly vibe from the vocals but, at the same time, you can tell that these kids know where their sound is rooted with clear nods to pop-punk bands of eras gone by. Kid Prexy is only sixteen years old and I think, based on “I Think That You’re Pretty”, he has a very, very bright future ahead of him.
