Girl at the Rock Shows

I did the unthinkable this past weekend and unplugged. It’s not like me to go an entire weekend without working but I needed it and it was truly rejuvenating. Unfortunately, that means walking into work this morning was a nightmare. Over four hundred unread emails to deal with and literally hundreds of songs to go through. I am far from caught up but I am feeling great and ready to tackle my insane inboxes and get to work digging myself out of the hole I’ve created. That means it’s time for some new music starting with “Modern Age” from Fate has Favourtites.

I didn’t get any background information on Fate has Favourites when they sent “Modern Age” my way but, honestly, this band needs no introduction. The power you get from this song is deafening but, more importantly, the amount of emotion you can feel with every beat of this track is staggering. Think old-school Silverstein mixed with something a bit more modern like Hot Milk. It’s a perfect showing of the balance between power and tenderness that Fate has Favourites makes seem so effortless. Complete with anthemic gang vocals that will have you singing along to the “Whoa-oh-oh” parts within your first listen, “Modern Age” is one of those songs that hits you so perfectly the first time you hear it. If you’re looking for a jolt of energy but also an acknowledgement of all of the things happening in your head on a daily basis, “Modern Age” is the song for you!
