Do you ever look back as some friends that you thought you would have for life but the seemingly disappeared for no reason? That’s what “Stayed Dead” from here/now is about and, although it’s not something I think about all the time, it’s something that pops in and out of my brain whenever I see something that reminds me of one of these “friends”.
“Stayed Dead” is a perfect example of putting emotion into music. From the first line of lyrics to the final note of this nearly four-minute long song, you are hit with waves of emotion and power. Overall, this song has a very emo-based sound but it comes with a bit more of an edge that your typical emo jam. This intensity comes mostly from the instrumentation but there are certain words in this track that come with just a bit more angst than I was expecting which definitely had me hooked. Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, here/now has a super strong sound that begs to be seen live. I’m not sure when I’ll get a chance to do that being that Pennsylvania is a far drive from Minneapolis but I know that the day they make their way to the Midwest, I will be there watching the emotion encapsulated in this track (and others) pour out onto a stage.
