I know it’s “new music Friday” and that “Fluctuate” from Heavy Feather and the Magic Word has been out for nearly a month but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your attention. Honestly, this may be better than any track that I’ve heard yet today.

“Fluctuate” is the third single from this amazing band and it showcases the fact that this band refuses to be put into a box. From dazzling almost Midwest Emo leaning guitarwork to a very The Strokes vibe but with a little 2000s post-punk feeling and almost psychedelic tendencies, Heavy Feather and the Magic Word’s sound is all over the place but it’s brilliant. I love the fact that as this dynamic three and a half minute song played through, I was able to find comparisons for each section of the song while not being able to call it a perfect match. On top of all of this, “Fluctuate” just has this perfect swagger about it. This song is best played at the top volume that your speakers are capable of so, just press play, turn it up, and let Heavy Feather and the Magic Word remind you about how music should be as creative and original as it is catchy.
