Girl at the Rock Shows

I haven’t seen Laney Jones perform live since the first time I caught her at The Turf Club at the beginning of last December. That being said, I haven’t stopped thinking about Laney since then. She had me hooked and easily cast her spell of captivating beauty and talent on me. I was thrilled when her new single “Stay at Home” came across the desk. Although it didn’t mean she was coming back up to the Twin Cities right away, it meant there was movement and that there is potential for a re-visit from this amazing songstress. It also showed that, like a good wine, Laney Jones is getting better with time and “Stay at Home” is proof of that.

“Stay at Home” isn’t the most sonically exciting song that I’ve heard from Laney Jones. Okay, that sounds way more harsh than it should but it’s true. This song stays a bit under the radar as far as sonic power goes yet, as you fall deeper and deeper into “Stay at Home” you realize the effect that it’s having on you. Your mind stops racing and your heartbeat slows while you breathing steadies and you just kind of drift off. The power of this track is understated but can not be ignored. Add Laney’s absolutely gorgeous vocals and the passion and heart that comes with each word and you are left with an experience– not just a single. Take a deep breath and hit play on “Stay at Home”. Let the music guide you through the next three and a half minutes of your life and then, when it’s done, you can thank Laney Jones for those three and a half minutes of pure bliss.
